Sportshall Final 1st March 2017
On Wednesday 22nd March 2017, our Cross Country finalists represented Wickford in the Partnership Cross Final with Schools from South Woodham Ferrers and Billericay.
Once again the weather was not on our side and we were greeted with heavy rain. Despite this the children were not deterred and all put in great performances in very slippery conditions.
Our Year 5 boys team finished in 3rd Place and our Year 6 boys, 5th place which is a great achievement for a final. Unfortunately, our year 4 girls team were not placed due to one of the team members being unwell on the day.
Our individual runners, Millie, Laurence and True all did very well finishing in the top 10 of their races and True will now go on to compete in the Essex County Finals as she finished 3rd.
With funds raised from our Olympian Day we purchased running parachutes which our Cross Country finalists used in training. The parachutes provided resistance, building up the children's strength and also presented windy running conditions. James commented after "That was really hard."
On the 28th March 2017, our Year 4 gymnastics squad took part in a Partnership Gymnastics competition at Billericay School, against other schools from Billericay.
They all had to perform their individual routines in front of a judging panel and then went on to complete a vault. Annie-Rose was commended for a perfect score of 10 for her vault.
They all did exceptionally well and in a very close competition came 2, with only 0.5 between their score and first place.
Well done to them all. They are now looking forward to next year when they will add further gymnastic moves to their routines to compete in the year 5/6 group.
On the 25th April 2017 our 5/6 Football Team took part in the 2nd round of the Wickford School’s Football League which comprises of 6 schools in total.
The boys all played very well and played 5 games in total winning 2, drawing 2 and only loosing 1 game. They only conceded 1 goal in all 5 games!
They are now in 2nd place in the league moving up 1 position following the second round. Well done boys!
The final round will take place on the 23rd May 2017.
Well done to True, who represented schools from Wickford, Billericay and South Woodham Ferrers in the County Cross Country Final on the 25th April 2017.
The event was attended by the top individuals from primary schools across Essex and took place at Hadleigh Country Park. True ran a very hilly course in windy conditions to finish a very creditable 25th place.
Well done on such a great achievement, qualifying and taking part in a County Event!
