CIRCUS DAY 5/10

World Mental Health Day 10/10/23

On the 6th October 2023, 8 children from KS2 took part in a multi-skills event at Runwell Primary school. They got to try different activities such as kurling, boccia, speed stacks and archery. They all had a great time participating alongside children from other Wickford Schools.

Year 6 Residential
9-20th October 2023

What an amazing week Year 6 had on their residential! They overcame barriers and faced challenges head on, I am sure they will look back on this week and feel extremely proud of themselves. Their week was action packed with activities including canoeing, fencing, zip wire, raft building, Jacob’s ladder, coastal walk and giant swing. We were all so impressed by how they pushed themselves on each activity and encouraged their classmates. To view the photos of this week click on the group photo above.

On the 12th October 2023, 6 children from KS2 took part in a ten-pen bowling event at Hollywood Bowl in Basildon.

They had a great time playing alongside other schools and there were even some ‘strikes’!

12/10/2023

Year 2 had a fantastic visit to the Tower of London on 13/10/2023. Their behaviour was fantastic and considering they sat in a lot of traffic on the way home, due to the A13 being closed, they arrived back at school with big smiles.

Year 2 Harvest Festival
17th & 18th November

Well done to Eloise and Anais who accompanied Mrs Ferrari and I to the Healthy Schools festival on 19/10/2023 where we were presented with two awards.

We received a certificate of achievement for the successful completion of the health improvement project linked to PSHE- ‘Healthy Schools Expectation’ and also ‘The Best Practice Award’ for our work on becoming a Dementia Friendly Aware School .

Thank you to all of the familes that attended the Foundation Family Read on 19/10/23.

Anti-Bullying week began on Monday 13th November, when children were invited to wear odd socks which added a little colour and pattern around the school. Throughout the week children completed activities including making posters, kindness art and kind hands.

What a great morning we had at St Andrews church on Tuesday morning with 8 artists from across Key Stage 2 viewing the ‘From Hong Kong to Wickford’ exhibition. The children got to view the work of Ho Wai-On and friends around the church before drawing in their own sketchbooks and creating their own portraits.  Thank you to Mrs Playle for organising this event.

Thank you so much to our amazing kitchen team for all their efforts this week in preparing and serving over 400 Christmas lunches!

The children had a great time being served by their teaching teams and enjoying their meals with their friends.

The children had a great time when Cinderella came to visit and perform a panto at school. There was lots of 'cheering' and 'booing' throughout the show...everyone seemed to have lots of fun!

Years 1 to 6 took part in a Christmas Poetry Slam where classes and year groups performed a poem to the rest of the school. Thank you to Mrs Evans and Mrs Craske for organising this event which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. We were delighted to welcome Jean and Toni from Silvanna Court as our judges. They had a very difficult job but after much deliberation they crowned Year 2 as the KS1 winners after writing their own poem ‘The Year Two Twelve Days of Christmas’ and Gold Class were the KS2 winners who performed the poem ‘T’was the Week Before Christmas- a Christmas poem for teachers’.

16/1/2024

On Tuesday 16/1/24, Year 5 and 6 got to attend a special assembly in preparation for our upcoming NSPCC Number Day. We were joined by Emmanuel Asuquo (TV Financial Adviser) who spoke to the children about money. Year 6 also took part in a money workshop were they learnt about budgeting. If you were watching BBC news earlier this week, you might have seen some familiar faces as they also came along to visit and enjoy the session. We are really proud of how the children represented our school and were praised by the staff at the NSPCC  for their engagement and eagerness to ask questions.

22nd January 2024

On Monday 22nd January, Year 6 visited Chelmsford County Court and Chelmsford Cathedral. As you can see from the photos, they had a great time when they took on the roles of the court. They had to try a case that involved harassment, which involved posting abusive and threatening messages.

Year 5 First Aid- 22/1/24

Year Five had a busy day on Monday 22/1/24 when they took part in a First Aid workshop. They learnt how to carry out basic first aid including burns, scalds, cuts, bleeds, choking, asthma attacks or allergic reactions. They learnt that if someone has experienced a head injury, they should not be moved.

The workshop also included when it is appropriate to use first aid and the importance of seeking adult help, the importance of remaining calm in an emergency and providing clear information about what has happened to an adult or the emergency services.

We were delighted to once again support the NSPCC by taking part in Number Day on Friday 2 February 2024. Pupils had the option to come to school in non-uniform, wear an item of clothing with a number on it or get even more creative by dressing in a Maths or numbers theme for a donation to help raise money for the NSPCC.
